(Fund related fixed term post for up to 2 years)
Due to additional funding from the Alternative Provision Innovation Fund we are delighted to be able to create a new post for an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher of literacy, committed to supporting disadvantaged young people to build their self esteem through achieving and improving their standards of literacy at Francis Barber PRU. You will be teaching small groups and pupils on a 1:1 basis in a supportive environment on both the PRU sites and will play a key role in enabling our learners to return to mainstream or special schools. Francis Barber PRU works with groups of pupils who have found it challenging in mainstream settings for a variety of reasons.
Francis Barber is a very good PRU with many outstanding features; our most recent Ofsted inspection was in December 2017 and recognised the supportive environment created. We have a wide variety of pupils on roll including pupils who are excluded or dual registered, those undergoing statutory assessment or have an EHCP. Many of the pupils have faced challenges within mainstream schools. Some continue to be challenging within the PRU but there is a strong staff team helping the young people to manage their behaviour within a supportive and caring, school-like environment.
If you are passionate about helping young people overcome their difficulties and achieve their potential, have initiative and are a good team player we would welcome your application.
The person appointed will have Qualified Teacher Status and will have registered with the GTC. For further information or an informal chat email the Deputy Headteacher Rachel Eddolls on reddolls.212@lgflmail.org
