Harlington Area Schools Trust (HAST) is looking to appoint an energetic, enthusiastic and qualified nursery nurse to join the Hearing Impairment Team to take up the position of Support Worker for the Hearing Impaired. This is an exciting newly identified position so would suit someone who would enjoy the challenge of helping to develop a new family supportive role within an existing and successful Hearing Impairment Team.
As part of your induction programme you will be based at HAST’s Toddington St George C of E School HI provision supporting in the nursery and lower school provisions; this will include deaf awareness and hearing technology training. Following a suitable time period you will start accompanying HAST’s specialist pre-school Teacher of the Deaf on home visits leading eventually to an individual caseload.
A Level 3 NNEB/CACHE Certificate in Childcare and Education, sign language skills at a minimum BSL Level 1 and minimum GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) English and Maths are essential requirements, as is a clean driving licence. Experience of working with hearing impaired students is desirable. This post is for up to 32.5 hours a week term time only.
