The Arbor School seeks a special individual for an exciting opportunity that has arisen within our school. We are seeking a highly motivated Swim Coach to join the growing P.E. department within the School. As a member of the staff team across the school, the Swim Coach will model the school mission, values and beliefs in action, particularly with respect to international-mindedness and intercultural understanding. Staff members at The Arbor School are expected to show exceptional standards of care and skill towards the school community, focusing upon the quality of relationships.


JOB SUMMARY

  • Teaching swimming to groups of children within lessons as allocated by Head of PE across the whole school
  • Leading before-school Swim Squad sessions for advanced swimmers encouraging competitive swimming and development of strong swimming skills
  • Promote swimming and encourage student’s passion for the sport whether beginner or advanced
  • Ensure high standards of swimming technique, health and safety and supervision.
  • Assisting with swimming galas, both on and of site, including outside of regular working hours.
  • Leading PE Departmental CPD on swimming, upskilling PE teachers in their technical delivery of swimming lessons.
  • Leading on, coaching and managing sports Teams at fixtures and tournaments.
  • Assisting the Head of PE and other PE teachers during lessons and sports activities
  • Contributing to swimming-based elements of student term 1 and end of year reports.
  • Maintaining a high standard of health and safety during swim coaching sessions and co-operating with the Head of PE and other teachers in all issues of health and safety including daily health and safety checks of designated areas.
  • Supervising changing for PE and Swimming and maintaining high expectations of behaviour.
  • Assisting the Head of PE and other teachers to ensure that all equipment, fixtures and fittings are maintained in a safe condition
  • Working closely with the swim team including teachers and lifeguards to ensure strong collaborative procedures are followed.
  • Assist with other relevant roles as determined by the Head of PE

REQUIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • High School Diploma/Diploma Degree in relevant field;
  •  A Lifeguard Certificate, accredited by the Emirates International Accreditation Centre; or Highfield Rescue Award or equivalent;
  • CPR and First Aid Certified;
  • Excellent communication skills in English;
  • Minimum experience of 2 years as a Lifeguard/ swimcoach;
  • Minimum ASA/ Austwim Swimming Level 1 (preferably Level 2) or equivalent
  • An appreciation for environmentalism and of values-based education.


REMUNERATION:

Competitive tax-free salary, private medical insurance, and end-of-contract gratuity as per the UAE labour law.
