Job overview

Millfield is renowned for its excellence in all things swimming. With our state-of-the-art 50m and 25m pools, we offer a range of swim programmes, including private lessons, that are second to none. Our exceptional swim teachers and coaches play a pivotal role in our continued success.

As our Learn-to-Swim programme continues to grow, we are seeking passionate individuals who are dedicated to developing swimmers and contributing to the expansion of our scheme. We currently have Bank positions available covering staff absence, but from September 2024, there will be an opportunity for regular hours, working Wednesday 3.45pm – 7.45pm, Thursday 4.45pm – 8.15pm and Friday 4.15pm – 7.45pm.

To maintain our high standards, we are specifically seeking candidates who hold (or are working towards) an SEQ Level 1 or Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification. Experience in teaching both pre-school and school-age children is highly valued.

Our ideal applicant will possess a confident and outgoing demeanour, thrive in a collaborative team environment, and, ideally, have previous experience in a bustling swim school. Effective communication skills, along with the ability to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons to children of various skill levels (from Duckling beginners to pre-squad levels), are essential.

The remuneration for this role is £20.19 per hour plus holiday pay. You will also receive an array of staff benefits, including freshly prepared lunches for a nominal fee of just £10 per month, access to our state-of-the-art school facilities, and exclusive discounts and cashback benefits at popular high street shops and restaurants through our Employee Assistance Programme.

The modern world is highly competitive and the way we prepare our children for its demands is more important than ever. Young people today are subject to great pressures and it takes strong personalities to avoid the traps that life has lying in wait. Hence a good school must seek to develop confidence and maturity in all its pupils whatever their strengths and weaknesses.

All individuals have different needs and therefore a variety of opportunities must be available to enable each one to achieve success. They must learn to apply themselves to academic work but must also be encouraged to express their other talents.

With its outstanding facilities, a staff:pupil ratio of 1:7.5, an extraordinary range of academic courses and the unrivalled strength of its extra-curricular programme, Millfield strives to achieve all these aims. It also seeks to move with the times whilst maintaining the important traditions of good manners, discipline and respect for others.

We pride ourselves on the richness and diversity of the Millfield experience as well as the friendly atmosphere within our community.
