The Role

The College is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Teacher Assistant within our Continuous Learning (Learning Support) Faculty.  This position is full time, term time, working across Senior Secondary.  You will be predominantly based in the classroom, however there may will also be a requirement to support small groups or in one on one sessions as well.

All teaching staff at Coomera Anglican College are expected to take part in the whole life of the College, including participation and involvement in pastoral care, sport, cocurricular activities and special event days.  In addition, you must be committed to the Anglican ethos and support the values and culture of the College.

To be successful, you will:

  • Demonstrate previous experience supporting students who have complex social, emotional, and learning needs, including a specific understanding of strategies required to support students diagnosed with SLD and dyslexia
  • Experience in implementing specific skill-based intervention programmes
  • Proven ability to work with year level teachers to support differentiation and adjustments including experience with reviewing IEPs and student adjustment plans 
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation to support provision for NCCD
  • Be willing to work as part of a small team 
  • Have an ability to support Mathematics and Science subjects in the Senior Secondary campus (highly regarded)
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and be self-motivated
  • Be able to effectively communicate and build relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader College community
  • Have a strong administrative background with excellent IT skills
  • You must hold a minimum Certificate III in Education Support, current working with children check (Blue Card) and first aid qualifications.

Curriculum 

Coomera Anglican College runs a broad based curriculum to meet the needs of all of its students. They focus on delivering a holistic approach to education embedding well-being at the core of the curriculum.  It follows the Australian Curriculum. The school runs a Religious Education program throughout all year levels. Chinese is the language taught to students at CAC. All students must undertake some community service. The college runs an Infinity and Beyond program for students performing exceptionally well for their age.
