Position Information 

Banksia Road Public School is located in Greenacre. There are currently 555 students who attend the school representing 24 nationalities. The school's population is 90% NESB (Non English Speaking Background) with the main cultural group being Arabic which makes up 84%. 

We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning school. We work in collaboration with the community to ensure our students graduate with the characteristics and competencies of respect, resilience, empathy, honesty, adaptive thinking and a collaborative mindset as per our Portrait of a Graduate.

Our school engages in a diverse range of activities meeting the needs of all students, including a newly established support unit, that promotes a cooperative safe environment K-6 where all students feel valued, cared for and known.

Instructional leadership remains a school priority with opportunities to explore new approaches where teachers work in synergy with all key stakeholders to co-plan and co-implement quality differentiated programs that are informed by research and evidence based strategies. 

Our parent community supports educational aspiration for their children and the school boasts a highly, flourishing committed and hard working P & C. We have a dedicated Community Hub which was built in 2017 which continues to support parents/caregivers and offer various opportunities.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach infants and primary with a demonstrated capacity to deliver quality, differentiated literacy programs with knowledge and understanding of syllabus.
  • Demonstrate capacity to implement high-quality evidence-based numeracy programs meeting the needs of all students including an integration of ICT.
  • Highly developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work collaboratively to build positive relationships with all stakeholders to enhance a quality learning environment.
  • Ability to enhance and support whole-school well-being programs and implement evidence based behaviour and classroom management strategies to cater for the needs of students with varying behavioural, academic, social and cultural needs.
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge to undertake and contribute to Creative Arts programs including music and drama while building the capacity of all students.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
