Bradstow is a dynamic and unique residential special school, registered as a Children’s Home, for children and young people between the ages of 5 – 19 years. It is situated in 13 acres of parkland within a few hundred metres of the sandy beaches of Broadstairs. We endeavour to meet the needs of children and young people on the autistic spectrum continuum and severe intellectual disabilities, many of whom have associated behavioural challenges. We have achieved international recognition for our leadership and management, the development of our people and for our Gentle Teaching approach.

Experience is with SEN is not essential. What makes the difference at Bradstow is the professional and personal qualities, and the values and behaviours of the people who are employed here; and what you, as an individual, can offer our young people to enable them to feel safe, unconditionally valued and engaged.

You will be provided with an extended and ongoing package of induction and professional development. We believe that personal and professional development are essential in our specialised field and are at the core of the success of the school.

All teachers are fully trained and supported in Gentle Teaching, TEACCH, Positive Behaviour Support, PECS and other augmentative communication systems, as well as being provided with a wide range of other specialist skills. You will also be encouraged and supported to extend your skills and knowledge by undertaking further Degree and Diploma studies.

In addition to judging Bradstow ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED 2013 said:

This is reinforced throughout every staffing level and includes all members of the maintenance, catering, teaching and care teams. Collaborative working is key to the school’s success.”
