Teaching ServiceToormina High School is a comprehensive co-educational school that includes a special education support unit. The school has an enrolment of 809 students, including 17% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and 3% language background other than English. The school is situated on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, eight kilometres south of Coffs Harbour. The school works collaboratively within the Bongil Bongil Community of Schools (BBCoS) comprising several partner primary schools located within Sawtell, Toormina, Boambee, Bonville and the surrounding areas. A highly skilled and dedicated staff provide a wide range of learning and extra-curricular opportunities for students. There is an involved and committed Parents and Citizens’ Association, with strong ties to the local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community.

Approval to teach English Years 7-12 and English Extensions 1 and 2, including approval and/or willingness to teach Geography Years 7 - 10. Experience and/or willingness to be involved in Debating and Public Speaking is also desirable.

Demonstrated ability to adopt a collaborative, strategic and reflective approach to designing, implementing and evaluating explicit teaching and learning programs grounded in contemporary educational research and the use of relevant data.

Excellent classroom management and student wellbeing practices that promote and build positive relationships and nurture student growth.

Proven capacity to work as a team member and contribute to the attainment of faculty and whole school strategic directions.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated capacity to build relationships with students, staff, parents and community stakeholders.
