Are you an experienced Teacher with SEND knowledge looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen as a Teacher for Visually Impaired Pupils, their families and educational settings across Bedford Borough.
We require a motivated, enthusiastic and professional Teacher for Visually Impaired Pupils to join our hard-working, passionate and supportive local authority team. This is a peripatetic post supporting children and young people, in a range of educational settings including homes, nurseries, mainstream primary and secondary schools and special schools.

Teachers, who do not have the mandatory qualification for vision impairment, but who have experience in supporting children and young people with visual impairment and are interested in developing their specialist skills, will be considered. You will have recent teaching experience, either peripatetic or in the classroom and, will be able to demonstrate your commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs, promoting independent learners. As a Teacher for Visually Impaired Pupils, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to meet deadlines is essential, as is a willingness to learn new skills and maintain an up to date working knowledge of issues related to visual impairment.
As part of this role, you will be required to travel to schools, settings and family homes out in the community.
