Job overview

We require an inspiring leader and team player to act as Teacher in Charge of our Enhanced Mainstream School (SEMH) provision for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The Teacher in Charge works closely with the Headteacher and the NYCC Lead Adviser for SEMH to formulate the aims and objectives of the EMS. Through outreach, the EMS plays a significant role in developing the skills and capacity within our designated community of schools to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH needs. The TiC will lead an established and successful team in providing this outreach as well as in-reach provision for those children with the most severe and complex needs.

The person we are looking for will be:

  • a champion for inclusion
  • positive and resilient
  • a strong strategic leader, with good management skills
  • a successful leader
  • and advocate for social and emotional learning (SEL)
  • experienced and passionate about working with children with highly challenging needs
