Position Information 

Kellyville Ridge Public school is located in Kellyville Ridge and is a part of The Ponds learning community. The school currently caters for 785 students, 56% of these being students with English as an Additional Language or Dialect. Statement of duties

The Learning and Support Teacher will, through the school’s learning and support team, provide direct and timely specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers. Many of these students come from diverse cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds. The Disability Standards for Education 2005 provides the context for the role and activities of the Learning and Support Teacher. Emphasis in the role will reflect the needs of individual students and school priorities and programs that support students with complex learning and support needs. The role will be underpinned by a collaborative and consultative approach so that the student and/or their parent or carer are actively involved in the student’s education.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers to assess, plan, implement, differentiate and evaluate teaching programs for students with complex learning and behaviour support needs.
  • Proven success in creating and implementing personalised learning and behaviour management/risk plans for students in consultation with the school Learning and Support Team, staff, parents and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated professional learning for colleagues when tailoring learning for students with additional complex learning and behaviour needs.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 
Special Notes 

The advertised position is for a Learning and Support Teacher 0.900 FTE. 0.100 FTE will be supplemented by school funds in a temporary capacity to create a 1 FTE position.
