Position Information 

Established in 1862, Nowra Public School is situated on Dharawal Country. It is centrally located in Nowra on two sites: K-2 and 3-6. The school is a vibrant learning community and draws from a diverse population with an enrolment of approximately 500 students. As well as mainstream classes the school also has six support classes. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students make up approximately 33% of our student enrolment. There is a strong focus on ensuring that Aboriginal culture and history are taught within the school. Staff are also active members of the Nowra Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). 
The school receives considerable funding under the Resource Allocation Model (RAM) and as a result is well resourced. Nowra Public School has highly skilled staff who are committed to supporting all students to "Aim to Achieve" in all aspects of school life.
We also have a strong focus on student wellbeing, supporting students to become resilient and active learners as well as engaging in all facets of school life.
The school is currently undertaking an exciting school transformation journey focused on evidence informed practices and significant professional development for staff.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

1. Approval to teach infants and/or primary.
2. Approval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
3. Demonstrated ability to engage students in critical and creative thinking, digital literacy and a love of literature.
4. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the school.
5. Capacity to organise and manage the resources of a primary school library that supports teaching and learning.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 

 
Special Notes 

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
