Position Information 

 St Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school with a current enrolment of approximately 1450 students. Thirty two percent are from non-English speaking backgrounds and the gender balance is approximately fifty seven percent boys and forty three percent girls. The school has a Hearing Support Unit, an Intensive English Centre, a long running gifted and talented program and a substantial learning and support program. These programs are highly valued by the school community. The school’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program enabled extensive online learning during COVID-19 lockdowns and the technology skills developed by staff continue to be employed in our classrooms. There have been significant improvements in the school’s infrastructure in recent years. Most of the teaching and learning facilities have been upgraded. There are extensive musical enrichment opportunities for students through our ensembles, tutorial program and performing arts unit. The school has an active and supportive P&C, and the community has high expectations for student involvement and achievement. 

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach Music.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate teaching and learning to cater for students with a range of abilities, including students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearning.
  • Demonstrated capacity in the development of curriculum, teaching and assessment materials transformed by digital technologies to deliver innovative and engaging lessons.
  • Have skills and/or experiences in delivery of whole school music programs
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a capacity to contribute, support and build collaborative and cohesive teams.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm full vaccination status prior to the Department of Education finalising the appointment of the candidates and entry on duty.
