Position Information 

North Rocks Public School has approximately 867 students K–6. The school was established in 1923 and has developed a strong reputation for achieving excellence in academic achievement, performance in the Arts and sport and a student welfare system which values building sound relationships based on Choice Theory. Every student has the opportunity to attain high personal standards of performance. At North Rocks Public School our purpose is to develop attitudes, skills, and knowledge to facilitate learning within an environment which encourages safety, honesty, personal responsibility and respect for others founded upon the core principles of Choice Theory. The school has a reputation as being an inclusive and caring place where students are engaged and happy. North Rocks Public School provides quality education to its students in thirty-four classes for mainstream students. Additionally, the school has two classes for gifted students (OC classes) and a support unit with two autism classes and an IO class. The student population is made up of 67% of students coming from a non-English speaking background. The school enjoys strong parent support from a diverse range of cultural groups and a very proactive P&C. There is a strong focus on collaborative practice and the delivery of high quality, evidence-based instruction in English and Mathematics. Learning programs are differentiated to cater for all learners, including High Potential and Gifted students.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Infants and Primary K-6 with demonstrated ability to develop and deliver high quality literacy and numeracy programs with expertise in student data analysis to inform teaching practice. Highly developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students, teachers, parents and the wider community. A strong commitment to the principles of Choice Theory/Reality Therapy as the foundations of the school's wellbeing practices. Willingness to participate in whole school activities and programs, including sport and choir.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
