The Heart of Mercia Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), formed on 1 April 2019 and delivers post 16 education in Hereford, Stourbridge and Worcester. Hereford Sixth Form College is part of this Trust. The MAT has an annual budget of £28m and serves the needs of 5,500 students across the region.

Hereford Sixth Form College has over 2000 full-time 16-19 students and an excellent reputation for its results and extra-curricular provision. Rated Ofsted outstanding in 2023, the College consistently achieves one of the highest Advanced Level points scores per entry of over 100 SFC’s nationally and has outstanding value added results as measured by both the ALIS and ALPS systems.

Applied Psychology and Health & Social Care are two of the largest vocational departments in this highly successful Sixth Form College, receiving an Outstanding Grade within the recent Ofsted inspection. In Applied Psychology, there are currently 6 first year and 3 second year BTEC groups. In Health & Social Care, there are currently 4 first year and 2 second year single BTEC Certificate group, 1 Diploma class and 2 Health and Social Care Level 2 classes.

Examination results in both subjects have been consistently excellent, both in raw and value-added terms.

Teachers in Applied Psychology and Health & Social Care work closely together, following a common program and using a variety of methods. This post provides an excellent opportunity for suitably qualified persons to join an experienced team of Psychology and Health & Social Care teachers. The department is well-resourced, and the use of IT is being developed. Emphasis is placed on providing a supportive working environment for teachers, liaising over schemes of work, and sharing good practice.

Experience of teaching BTEC is not essential, but it would be beneficial. You should be committed, enthusiastic, and enjoy a challenge. You will be prepared to work hard within the team and be ambitious both on a personal level and for the department. The ability to motivate students, maintain standards, and be organised is vital. We hope you choose to apply.
