Job overview

Tes are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of Art & Photography on a full-time permanent basis from September 2021. Both experienced and newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and flourishing school, demanding high standards of work, behaviour and appearance from all of its students.  Parents send their sons and daughters to the school, confident that they will be challenged by the climate of hard work and high expectation and will be guided by staff who are committed to raising students' academic achievements.

It has a strong record of academic success and has consistently been ranked as the highest performing non-selective secondary school in Essex.

The school are seeking a talented Teacher of Art and Photography to join their highly successful Technology Faculty. Ofsted recently described the standard of art in the school as ‘very high.’ The post is suitable for either an NQT or a more experienced practitioner. The successful candidate will be required to teach art and photography up to and including G.C.S.E. The ability to teach A level photography would be an advantage.

The art and photography team consists of four specialist teachers, one of whom is part-time. They are extremely well supported by the Head of Faculty and faculty meetings take place weekly. The art and photography team is based in four open plan rooms. Each one is equipped with a projector and interactive whiteboard. There is also easy access to a suite of computers nearby. The area also boasts a kiln room and photographic facilities.

The Successful Candidate:

  • Good quality Honours degree
  • PGCE, or equivalent, in Secondary Education or working towards this
  • Qualified Teacher Status or working towards this
  • Experience of teaching art up to and including G.C.S.E.
