St Matthew’s Academy is a mixed, non-selective Catholic school in Ayrshire, Scotland, serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Saltcoats has approximately 1,300 students on record.
St Matthew’s Academy opened in 2007 to serve students in the North Ayrshire community. It was formed after the merge of St Andrew’s Academy and St Michael’s Academy. Facilities include interactive whiteboards, a central social area for students to relax in and a sports and fitness suite.

St Matthew’s Academy follows the Gospel values throughout daily school life, which include love, understanding and respect. The Catholic faith is at the core of the school’s teachings and it wishes for students to develop spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially and physically in a safe and nurturing learning environment. The academy encourages students to work to the best of their ability and celebrates success and achievement within the school community. St Matthew’s Academy works closely with the Church, parents and the wider community, teaching students the importance of citizenship and their roles as active members of society. Students are encouraged to voice their opinions and practice skills in leadership and democracy through an active Student Voice, while a range of extra-curricular activities are on offer for pupils to gain new experiences outside the classroom.
