Salary: d'Overbroeck's has its own salary scale (above the national scale) and pension scheme
Contract term: Permanent
Suitable for NQTs: Yes

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified teacher of Art, to teach across Years 7-11. The post advertised is part-time (approximately 0.6 of full-time), but there may also be opportunities for a full-time post, as well as teaching in the International Section in years 10 and 11.

This is an opportunity to join a highly successful Art department, which has been led for several years by Wendy Rawding, in conjunction with a part-time colleague.

Art has been one of the most highly-performing subjects at GCSE in recent years, with 67% of candidates gaining A* and over 80% gaining A*/A in the two most recent years’ results. Beyond exams, Art plays a major part in the life of the school and students’ work is regularly displayed around the buildings. Students are also invited to submit work for a variety of competitions and exhibitions. Art is a very popular subject across all years, lunch and after school clubs are very well attended and we attract scholarship candidates from several schools.

We place a high degree of importance on strong academic skills and subject knowledge, as well as the ability to convey enthusiasm and enjoyment of the subject to students across the ability range. Our aim is to teach a broad and balanced subject ranging from painting, printing processes, textiles, ceramics and sculpture. A strong emphasis is placed on observational skills with ideas developed around creative and personal outcomes. The successful candidate will be expected to bring areas of expertise as well as a general level of knowledge and competence across most areas. We embrace a flexible approach to teaching.

We are very happy to receive applications from newly qualified teachers or graduates who hope to enter the profession but don’t have a PGCE. NQTs receive a full induction programme through ISTIP (http://istip.co.uk/) with the support and guidance of senior members of staff. Graduates who have not completed a PGCE receive an extensive in-house training programme. We pride ourselves on our ability to offer support and training to NQTs and recent graduates.
