Teacher of Biology

The Hemel Hempstead SchoolHertfordshire

Due to school expansion we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified Teacher of Biology to join this flourishing and highly successful Faculty.

At Key Stage 4 and 5 Biology is taught by a subject specialist and the ability to teach Biology at all Key Stages, including A Level, is essential, as is the ability to teach Chemistry and Physics at Key Stage 3.

The post is ideal for NQTs or someone wishing to develop their leadership skills.

The Science Faculty achieves excellent results at all levels. There is a very strong team of teachers with a supportive working atmosphere. Students are well-motivated and there is good support from parents. The Sciences are extremely popular A Level subjects and this would be an ideal opportunity to join our team. The School is expanding and we have just moved into our additional new Science block with 3 fantastic biology labs.

The Hemel Hempstead School is a very popular and very oversubscribed school on a beautiful site in the Boxmoor Village area of the town, close to local and national rail, bus and road links to London. Our Ofsted inspection in 2016 praised the school, especially “your values of Responsibility, Respect, Relationships, Reflection and Resilience being at the heart of the atmosphere at The Hemel Hempstead School. You and your team prepare pupils to be courteous, considerate and capable young people, ready for the adult world.’

We are an expanding school, having been asked by Hertfordshire to increase to 217 students in each year group and over 250 in the Sixth Form, allowing us to recruit new colleagues and increase the broad range of academically rigorous courses we offer. Our facilities are excellent with world-class indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, a brand new music, languages and science centre and plans for further improvements across the site.
