Job overview

Details

We seek a committed and enthusiastic person to join our Business and Economics team at The Billericay School. You would join our team at an exciting time in the development of our school as we strive to become a Centre of Excellence in Essex. We are looking for teachers who want the autonomy and opportunities that our large school can give alongside unequalled support to thrive.

The Business and Economics department currently consists of 3 specialist members of staff and there is a wealth of expertise within the department.  Business and Economics sit within the large Humanities and Social Sciences faculty which, in addition to Geography, History and RE at KS4 includes Financial Studies, Government & Politics, Sociology, Psychology, and Health & Social Care post 16. There is a fantastic support network throughout school and in Faculty.

There would be opportunities to teach a range of subjects including GCSE and Vocational pathways at KS4 and KS5.

Our Sixth Form is incredibly popular and amongst the highest performing in Essex, and we offer both A levels and vocational pathways at KS5. There are normally two classes of each subject in each of years 12 and 13.  The department is proud of its success with some students continuing their studies to degree level or into higher apprenticeships.

We take Behaviour very seriously. We have a strict Behaviour Policy and significant Rewards Program. We have an immediate on call system and same day detentions supervised by SLT. We support our staff to thrive as practitioners and have a strong leadership presence throughout the school. The school has polite and engaged students who want to learn and benefits from good parental support. But, don’t take our word for it you are welcome to visit anytime and see for yourself.

With direct links to the ‘Outstanding’ Billericay Educational Consortium, The Billericay School is renowned for the high standards of CPD it delivers as well as the collaborative and supportive ethos it promotes amongst staff. We promote and support active scholarship of subjects and are supportive in terms of time given to visit outstanding departments and schools to build teachers own practice. We value your development and want you to grow with us and will support your career ambitions and goals.

For a successful ECT, an Early Start scheme from 2 July, which includes payments across the summer holidays and a well-established induction package, will be available. We would also look to add an additional 2 year recruitment and retention payment totalling 3k for the right candidate.

Our Governing body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.  The post is subject to satisfactory medical checks, enhanced DBS clearance and references.
