Lomond School is a co-educational independent school, for children aged 3 to 18 years, positioned in the elegant suburbs of the coastal town of Helensburgh and located only 10 minutes from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

At Lomond School we believe passionately that education should be about supporting our young people to develop and grow, both academically and personally, as rounded individuals with strong values who are ultimately prepared to embark confidently and successfully on their life beyond Lomond School.

We provide small class sizes, an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities, attention to the individual and a strong record of academic achievement. All aspects of development are accorded importance, be they academic, musical, dramatic, sporting or in wider outdoor activities.

The Music and Drama Department

There are 2.5 teachers in the department, which is led by the Head of Music, one of which is the teacher in charge of Drama. The Drama department was created 3 years ago and it has its own purpose built studio, complete with lighting and sound rigs, and accompanying backstage changing areas. The department makes excellent use of technology to facilitate the delivery of all areas of the curriculum, incorporating options for both performance and backstage support.

All pupils from Junior 1 through to Senior 2 have Drama lessons as a core part of their curriculum with S4 as part of a rota. Drama is available, and is a popular choice, at both SQA National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher. In addition Drama is a popular extra-curricular option and there are annual performances across many ages and stages within the school. Our most recent Senior School shows include: Grease, Romeo & Juliet and Guys & Dolls.

The person appointed will be a well-qualified teacher of Drama with appropriate experience. He/she will have enthusiasm and ensure the highest standards of learning, achievement and development for all pupils at Lomond School within the Drama Department.

As a teacher at Lomond School, you will be expected to fully involve yourself in the extracurricular life of the School. You will also be expected to attend whole school events such as Prize Giving and Open Morning and undertake any other reasonable and relevant duties in accordance with the changing needs of the School.
