Job overview
Teacher of Economics and Business Studies
Part Time (0.5 FTE)
Strathallan School seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring part-time (0.5FTE) teacher of Economics and Business Studies to join a forward-looking and ambitious team from September 2020. This is a new post, created as a result of the expansion of the Sixth Form curriculum and increasing junior numbers. The post will require teaching middle and senior school pupils from age 9 to 18. The school offers A Levels, Highers, Advanced Highers and GCSEs. The post presents an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and hardworking Economics and Business Studies specialist to join and contribute to the direction of these fast-developing departments within the school. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate fully in the pastoral and extra-curricular life of this thriving boarding and day school.
The Economics and Business Studies departments are very popular departments within the school, with high numbers and a reputation for strong pupil engagement. There are currently two teachers supporting the Heads of Department. The team has a wealth of experience in helping students to prepare successful UCAS applications to many prestigious universities due to the fact a lot of students are inspired to study Economics and Business related subjects at degree level. The departments also place an emphasis on developing links with real world situations and real businesses to make the experience as engaging as possible for the students and so there is scope to develop further links for the new member of department.
The Department is responsible for the teaching of GCSE & A Level Business, SQA Higher Business Management and Economics at A Level and SQA Higher. The department has the sole use of three classrooms, each equipped with a PC and a Promethean whiteboard. The Department has a strong team ethos and is continually striving to provide outstanding innovative teaching, which simultaneously stretches and supports all learners. To this end, we would desire that the successful candidate has experience in delivering the Young Enterprise scheme or an equivalent.
As a department, we are committed to enabling our students to benefit from the very best standards of teaching and are proud of our departmental culture of collaboration. At such an exciting time in terms of the growth of our department, we look forward to welcoming a dedicated and passionate teacher to take their place on our successful team.
