We are seeking a qualified teacher of Economics and Maths, either NQT or experienced, to cover maternity leave within our teaching team. 

Your opportunity

The aim of Economics at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is to prepare students both with the fundamental knowledge and the skills to achieve both academically and within the wider working world. Our aspiration is that students progress to become the future leaders of our society, shaping its direction and achievements. Our Year 13 students regularly go on to take up Degree Apprenticeships with Bloomberg, Credit Suisse or study Economics at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. Out of the classroom, students take part in Bloomberg visits, Credit Suisse workshops as well as lecture talks with London Business School.

The Mathematics Department is committed to stimulating and inspiring students to be enthusiastic about the natural patterns in the world around them. We aim to encourage and equip all students with a broad range of mathematical skills in order to be successful in a highly competitive environment. Out of the classroom, the Mathematics team participates in UKMT Maths Challenges, Rubik’s Cube Challenge, World Maths Day, Pi Day, the annual Harris March Maths Month celebrations and other Federation competitions.

What we are looking for:

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. We would like to appoint a dynamic and inspirational qualified teacher. We are looking for an effective and enthusiastic classroom teacher who will be able to complement our dedicated team of outstanding practitioners. The successful candidate will ideally have significant experience in inner-city, multi-racial and urban areas.

We are looking for a strong communicator with proven strengths in engaging with, inspiring and motivating, not just the school community, but the wider community. You should hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace opened as Harris CTC in 1990 and converted to an Academy in September 2007. The Academy is a mixed school for 1,300 students aged 11-18 recruiting students from Croydon, Bromley, Lewisham, Southwark and Lambeth. The Academy has twice been judged to be outstanding by Ofsted, with the most recent inspection judging the school to be outstanding in every aspect. Student progress is in the top 3% nationally.
