Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic, well qualified and experienced English Teacher, who has a love of learning, is passionate and full of energy? Then this is the right opportunity for you!

As a high profile British international school, for children aged 3-18, we focus on developing a growth mindset within our students and staff.

Doha College offers a well-balanced all-embracing curriculum across all key stages. The English Department consists of 7 full-time and 2 part-time teachers who deliver a balanced English programme at Key Stage 3 in line with the English National Curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of our international student body. At Key Stage 4, students follow the CIE IGCSE English Language syllabus, together with AQA English Literature. At Key Stage 5, we offer both CIE English Literature and English Language as international A-levels.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic English Teacher with the ability to teach from KS3 to A-Level, to start in September 2018. Experience of delivering both literature and language at A-level would be an advantage; the opportunity for AS and A-Level teaching is available for candidates with the appropriate subject knowledge and capability.

Our classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards used by students and staff for a range of activities, and we have two designated laptop trolleys for departmental use. In addition to that, all students at Doha College are furnished with an iPad upon entry.

The English department also offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities including COBIS writing competitions, an annual Poetry Evening, theatre trips to enrich student experience of set texts, and involvement with other schools – locally and globally – in essay writing, speech making and debating events. In addition, in conjunction with the Media department, we also produce the ‘Majlis’ – the biannually published school magazine created by the students, for the students.

As a teacher of English, you be responsible for delivering high quality, engaging and well-resourced lessons across all key stages; contributing to departmental planning; monitoring and evaluating student achievement; and contributing to the accomplishment of the college’s vision and mission. As the successful candidate, you will be an outstanding role model within both the English Department and Doha College as a whole.

Whether you will be looking to move with your family or to come on your own, you are guaranteed a warm welcome.

Our salary and benefits package is recognised as one of the best in the Middle East.  Our staff receive a generous tax-free salary, a monthly accommodation allowance, an annual flight allowance and a substantial settling in allowance. We also have an effective induction programme for all new staff to support relocation.  We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers who have relevant experience and excellent references.

Doha College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and Disclosure and Barring Service check.
