We are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic full time Teacher of English with Drama in our over-subscribed school with a thriving Sixth Form. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is committed to inspiring and motivating students through their innovative and engaging teaching with excellent support from a successful, hardworking and friendly department.
Alongside seeking to appoint a strong Teacher of English with a broad base of subject knowledge, we are also looking to appoint someone as a Raising Standards Coordinator within English (title to be confirmed). This position will involve developing a wide range of strategies to support and develop the literacy across the curriculum. The initial focus of the position would be on bridging the gap of lost learning with years 7 and 8, in light of the pandemic and subsequent national lockdowns, and implementing a whole school literacy strategy to support all in accessing language in all subjects. The right candidate would have an understanding of the impact lost learning has had on students, the specific skills and areas for development, and a range of ways and strategies to help students overcome this. They would lead on developing and expanding the current provision in English to support the pupils’ needs, liaising closely with staff within the department as well as the SEN team.
Hollyfield is a beautiful school set in the Surbiton area of Surrey with excellent transport links to central London which enables our staff and young people to take full advantage of the wealth of opportunities that London provides. We are an ambitious school that puts student achievement and wellbeing at its heart. We are part of the Every Child, Every Day Multi Academy Trust and in March 2020 we were judged by Ofsted to be ‘good’ and we are working hard to continue to develop our high standards.
This role is ideal for an individual who is committed to inspiring and motivating students and helping them achieve their very best. We want the best people for our roles, so while this is primarily a full time role, we recognise that sometimes those best suited to roles on offer aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us about the flexibility you may need.
For further details about the school visit our website. Please note we cannot accept CVs.
Interviews will take place during the week commencing 17 May 2021.
We would encourage early applications as we reserve the right to appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate be found.
The Governing and Trust Bodies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young persons and expect all staff to share this commitment. The Headteacher must ensure that the highest priority is given to following the guidance and regulations to safeguard children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS in line with the 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. The schools within the Trust are committed to all aspects of personal development, are inclusive and seek to ensure every student achieves to the best of their ability. As part of our safer recruitment we will require two references. One of these should be the Headteacher at your present or last school. The other should be someone else from teaching.
