Job overview
Newcastle School for Boys is the only independent school in the north east of England providing continuity of education for boys only from 3 to 18. We are a small, caring school with a nurturing family environment.
Dedicated staff know all of the boys; not just their names but who they aspire to be. The boys are challenged by passionate teachers who care about each individual boy and their adventures in learning. Catering only for boys, we can offer an education that is tailored to boys’ learning needs and preferences. In addition, a wide range of co-curricular and personal development opportunities are offered to allow the boys chances to develop talents in all areas. This is underpinned by strong core values and excellent pastoral care and a healthy sense of competition and peer support.
At Newcastle School for Boys, we are united in our passion for boys’ learning, and the aim of producing young men of excellent character.
We are seeking to appoint a full-time Teacher of English to provide maternity cover from either May or September 2018. Applications are invited from candidates who are successful and ambitious with a keen focus on academic rigour and inspiring a love of reading. The successful candidate will be capable of teaching English Language to GCSE and English Literature to A level. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of an ambitious and growing school with a brand new Sixth Form Centre and an emphasis on providing an outstanding learning experience for boys.
Applicants should complete and return our application form, together with a concise supporting letter detailing how their experience and knowledge would ensure the success of this role.
Applications may be e-mailed to the Headmaster’s personal assistant, Mrs Sharon Greener, at sgreener@newcastleschool.co.uk or posted to David Tickner, Headmaster, Newcastle School for Boys, The Grove, Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE3 1NH. The closing date for applications is 4pm on Friday 26th January, with interviews likely to take place during the week commencing Monday 5th February 2018.
Newcastle School for Boys is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and this position is therefore subject to satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and other pre-employment checks.
