Job overview

The Phoenix School of Therapeutic Education is the education provision within the Cygnet hospital in Sheffield, a tier 4 CAMHs unit.

High expectations of what students can achieve, effective communications with schools and good quality teaching ensure that students continue to make good academic progress during their stay in hospital.

The Phoenix School would like to appoint an outstanding qualified teacher of English (or NQT) who can inspire and motivate students, effectively personalise learning and contribute to a consistent, positive environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching on a small group basis, designing and implementing a learning programme for each student, establishing coherent academic plans, recording achievement and liaising with other teachers to plan and organise teaching.

Providing evidence of student progress is an important element of the role and we have developed a range of methods of recording progress in our unique setting.

Additional duties include fulfilling the role of the form tutor, taking part in meetings, training and CPD as well as attending multidisciplinary meetings and progress report writing.

For the right individual this will be a unique and rewarding position within a forward thinking department, and an opportunity to work within a specialist field.

If you have the skills and experience we require and you are looking for a new challenge please request an application form today.

Safeguarding is of the utmost importance at Cygnet and we follow safer recruitment practice including taking up references after shortlisting and before interviewing.

Cygnet Healthcare has a proven commitment to 'Equality of Opportunity' and actively promotes the welfare and safeguarding of young people.

Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

To arrange a tour of the school or for further information or an informal discussion about the role please contact Susannah Burnside (Head teacher) at SusannahBurnside@cygnethealth.co.uk.
