HEATHCOTE SCHOOL AND SCIENCE COLLEGE
Teacher of English (Teachers Mainscale / UPS), commencing January 2018
Heathcote School is an 11 – 18 School that has a new Headteacher and a new vision. The school is on a rapid journey of improvement ensuring the ‘good’ status (Ofsted 2014) is built on and for the school to become ‘outstanding’ in all areas.
The School Improvement Plan (2017 – 2020) focuses on four key areas:
• Building at all levels an ambitious culture of high challenge and low threat enabling Heathcote to be the school of choice for staff and parents.
• Ensuring the best possible learning and leadership of learning, across the school.
• Ensuring safety is at the heart of everything we do and standards of behaviour and attendance are exemplary within the school and community.
• Giving all pupils equal opportunities to make maximum progress.
In September 2017, we expanded to an 8 form entry school. As a result of this expansion, we are looking for a qualified and talented Teacher of English (Mainscale / UPS) to teach across the ability range to GCSE and A Level from January 2018. You will be working with and supported by an experienced team of outstanding teachers and leaders. The English department is a very strong department and results in 2017 at GCSE and A Level were significantly above the national average.
We welcome applications from newly qualified or experienced teachers. As an NQT or Beginner Teacher at Heathcote School, you will be supported by experienced colleagues on a range of issues relating to planning, teaching and assessing with a dedicated mentor and a skills development program that will provide you with the experience required to be a successful practitioner in education.
The school puts well-being and development at the heart of its work and we have very talented staff who are encouraged to grow, develop and work collaboratively. We are therefore eager to support the teachers of tomorrow in their aim to join this excellent profession.
