Job overview
Westminster Academy specialises in International Business and Enterprise. It serves a multi-ethnic community in Central London, and at the heart of our approach is the personalised curriculum based on the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile.
At Westminster Academy, we believe that education is success. By providing all of our students with a world-class education, we prepare them to be competitive on the international stage. We strive to be the best in every field, as is demonstrated in achieving our ‘Outstanding’ status. As a member of staff at a fast-paced, forward-thinking organisation, you will genuinely be changing lives.
We are looking for a driven, innovative and organised classroom teacher to join a dedicated and successful Modern Foreign Languages department. As a state-funded International Baccalaureate World School, Westminster Academy is one of very few schools in the country that expects all students to study languages all the way through their journeys from Year 7 to 13 and thereby demonstrates a strong commitment to language learning. This is further shown through the academy’s Mother Tongue Language Programme which aims to secure recognition for the diverse language skills that our students bring to the academy as well as through our being the hub for the London Centre for Languages and Culture. The department has been highly successful in both GCSE and IB courses and prides itself in its co-operative and collegiate approach to teaching, learning and assessment.
The ideal candidate would be able to teach French to KS5, but an ability to also teach Spanish is desirable. The willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities is also expected. Most importantly, there is a real opportunity to contribute to a team that is making a difference.
What we offer:
● excellent opportunities for career development;
● an excellent programme of continuing professional development;
● an innovative educational concept;
● the opportunity to develop personally and professionally;
● the chance to shape the future of the subject in an ambitious, friendly and collegiate team.
