TEACHER OF GEOGRAPHY— MPS / UPS

(WITH POTENTIAL SUBJECT LEADERSHIP TLR)

We are seeking to appoint a skilled teacher with the ability to teach Geography throughout the school from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. The successful candidate would also contribute to the teaching of Key Stage 3 Humanities. Newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will be a well-qualified and dynamic classroom teacher, committed to raising students’ skills.

Humanities is taught to all students throughout Key Stage 3; students have three 50 minute lessons each week in Years 8-9 and 4 in Year 7. We work on a carousel and Humanities subjects are taught on a 10 week rotation. Humanities is one of our most popular option subjects at GCSE, with approximately 4 History groups, 3 Geography groups and 2 RE /Philosophy & Ethics groups each year, as well as 2 Psychology classes, 1 Enterprise class and 1 Health and Social Care class. All of these subjects are also offered at Key Stage 5 and several students go on to study Humanities-related courses at higher education each year. Examination outcomes at both GCSE and A-level are strong.

The Humanities team comprises 10 full time staff and several part time staff. The faculty is housed in a dedicated block with nine dedicated classrooms, its own IT suite and a recently re-furbished staff base.
