Job overview

Chiswick School is a GOOD school with OUTSTANDING features! (OFSTED February 2020)

Chiswick School is an 11 - 19 mixed stand alone academy of approx. 1600 pupils including a large, successful 6th Form. At the beginning of February 2020 OFSTED determined: "This is a good school" with outstanding features. Since then the school has continued to be innovative and focused on getting the best outcomes for all. The school is oversubscribed. In 2023 results for GCSE and A Levels were contrary to national trend - we were delighted for our students.

Languages are an integral part of our curriculum and a school priority; a large proportion of our KS4 cohort study languages.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented German teacher (who ideally could also teach French). Our curriculum aims to bring to life the cultures and spoken languages we offer - currently French and German (both to A level ) and Latin (to GCSE). The department currently consists of five language specialists.

You will be highly motivated, with unshakable integrity, and have a passion for working hard to support our pupils to enjoy school, achieve academic success and leave as well rounded young adults.

The Job Description and Person Specification will outline the basis of what we are looking for and can be downloaded below.  We will be using our Person Specification in our shortlisting process. We are happy for you to visit us - please contact Andrea Ramsay, Dir of HR by email ara@chiswickschool.org to arrange this or contact her if you have any further questions.

Interviews will be held throughout the application process so if you are interested please apply early.

Closing Date: Friday 3rd May noon.

Inclusion and Diversity are very much at the heart of our school. We welcome applications from candidates regardless of age, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, religious belief or race.

Chiswick School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service as well as Internet Search check along with relevant employment checks.

Chiswick School is a mixed 11-18 school that is truly comprehensive in its nature.

Our vision is that we do whatever it takes to ensure every student achieves their full potential. Over the last year we have made rapid progress in our classrooms and we are delighted that Ofsted has recognised how far we have come. Over the next four years we are aiming to become one of the finest schools in London providing students with exceptional opportunities in and out of the classroom.

Chiswick School is full of adults who care deeply about children and we pride ourselves on the positive relationships we build with students. We are a family which includes parents and carers, teachers, other school staff and the community; with the child placed firmly at the centre of all that we do and the decisions that we take.

Our teaching and support colleagues are our most valuable resource and we work hard to provide a balanced and enjoyable working environment.  A new Wellbeing Strategy is being implemented to enhance what we are already doing to support our staff.

"Staff praise leaders for the improvements that have been made. They said that leaders take their workload and well-being seriously. Staff morale is high. They are committed to playing their part in the continued improvement of the school."  - Ofsted, January 2020

Laura Ellener
Headteacher
