The Trustees are seeking to appoint a Teacher of History for Laidlaw Schools Trust, to be based initially at Academy 360 with the possibility of working at Excelsior Academy, to begin in January 2020.

The successful candidate will work closely with our principals at the secondary schools to ensure all of our pupils achieve their potential in History. They will lead the development of an exciting curriculum to meet the needs of every one of our learners and improve academic progress and attainment.

Laidlaw Schools Trust (LST) is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT). It currently comprises of two all-through academies, Excelsior Academy, educating pupils from 2 – 19 years, Academy 360 teaching students from 4 – 16 years, and four primary academies in Newcastle and Sunderland. Our communities are diverse, including areas of social disadvantage as well as some that are exclusively white British and some with high levels of BME.

We pride ourselves in being a progressive, inclusive trust that supports every child to develop their talents whatever they may be and to reach their academic potential. It is important that, as a learning organisation, we adapt and change to the needs of our pupils. We take care to value and develop all colleagues to make sure they can do their very best for children across the Trust’s schools.

The successful candidate will join a successful MAT where all Academies support each other to the benefit of our pupils and their families. Our Academies also enjoy strong support from an experienced LST central team, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The successful applicant will initially be based in Academy 360 with the opportunity to work in Excelsior Academy where they will teach History. They will also benefit from development opportunities provided by a partnership with Sedgefield Community College and LST through the North East One Vision Programme.
