Teacher of Humanities (History and Geography plus a second subject).

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive SEN school, based in Dudley, West Midlands. The school is looking to add a Teacher of Humanities to its progressive and supportive Humanities Department ideally starting ASAP.

The role will include teaching and coordinating the delivery of Humanities at KS3, GCSE and A-level. You will support the Head of Humanities to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.

“We require an experienced and qualified secondary Humanities teacher who has the ability to make a significant contribution to our school. The successful candidate will be an innovative, reflective practitioner who can demonstrate the willingness to adapt and learn. We are looking for an individual with high expectations and standards who can offer excellent behavioural management skills.  An additional strength would be a creative, engaging approach to curriculum design and planning both within the classroom and also in the wider outdoor learning environment.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom. You may have specialist knowledge and experience of working with autistic spectrum condition or children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Or you may have experience of working across both specialisms. Applications are invited from colleagues offering middle leadership experience, from mainstream schools and other educational settings, experience of assessment, planning and delivery of History and Geography throughout KS3/KS4 is essential."

• support package for NQT’s/RQT’s including CPD and NQT mentorship;

• the chance to take on further responsibility such as TLR or Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Humanities Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering Humanities up to GCSE level pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• a love and passion for education.
