Job overview
The de Ferrers Academy has gained a reputation for high levels of academic achievement, demonstrated by the fact that the 2016 results at GCSE and A-level are the best on record. We have a positive ethos and excellent staff/student relationships, we value our staff and are committed to their personal and professional development. In recent years, the Academy has developed a national reputation for innovation and success in Learning technologies and ICT. The Academy is an Apple Regional Training Centre, with 1:1 use of iPads for all Key Stage 4 and 5 students.
The Enterprise Faculty consists of ten members of staff, with different specialisms including Business, Computer Science and Economics. There a positive, “can do” ethos across the faculty and emphasis is placed upon the imaginative use of learning technologies and to provide a stimulating environment in which to learn.
Our strategy for teaching and learning in Enterprise is to provide a broad and varied curriculum, which offers learning opportunities that are accessible and engaging to all students across the academy. There is strong emphasis placed on the promotion of traditional, academic subjects, such as Computer Science and Economics, but we also encourage learners and staff members to recognise the great value of vocational learning, in which students focus on the development of practical skills to prepare them for work and study beyond de Ferrers. The ability to teach Business would be preferred, but is not essential, for candidates who are considering applying for this post.
All prospective candidates are very welcome to visit the Academy, to tour and meet with members of the faculty, and meet with our students. We are situated on the rural outskirts of Burton upon Trent, within easy access of Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby. As the Academy of choice for the local area, you will feel part of a supported community and, most importantly, a warm and friendly environment in which to educate our young people. We offer an employee reward package which includes car leasing discounts and our own independent travel consultant.
This role offers an exceptional opportunity to the successful candidate. If you wish to join this dynamic Academy, we look forward to hearing from you. A full job description and application forms can be accessed via the Academy’s website, or alternatively please contact Samantha Lawless on 01283 247700. Please note completed applications should be received by 9:00 am on the closing date.
