Job overview
We are looking to recruit to our existing strong team from Easter 2019 a committed Teacher of Mathematics who is passionate about their subject area. This post would suit an experienced teacher or an NQT.
This is a great time to be joining St Catherine's College, we have a new Headteacher and lots of exciting things happening.
Mathematics staff teach across the full age and ability range and are encouraged to be creative and inspiring to meet the needs and challenges of all pupils. This reflects in the success amongst mathematics staff in developing modern positive approaches in their teaching practice.
The maths team currently consists of ten highly qualified staff (of which two are presently part of the Senior Leadership Team), who together create an extremely positive learning culture based upon high expectations and a huge enthusiasm for the subject. We aim to do this through encouraging pupils to enjoy mathematics and to give all pupils an opportunity to progress and reach their full potential.
The Department is looking to build further success through innovative, imaginative lessons which incorporate both challenges, functional skills and investigative problem solving; and thereby encompassing progress for all learners. At Key Stage 4 all pupils follow the Edexcel linear examination depending upon their ability. As a department we offer extra-curricular activities which are well attended by the pupils and the local community, for example master class for the local feeder primary schools. This shows the committment and dedication to the subject of not only the staff but that of our pupils.
Ongoing improvement in the teaching and learning of mathematics at St Catherine's College is of the utmost importance. We are seeking to employ a member of staff whose passion for maths and enthusiasm for teaching reflects our ethos.

About St Catherine's College
We are St Catherine's College. We are a Church of England Academy that has children at the heart of everything we do.
Our smart, well behaved pupils are happy and proud of their school. We are a high achieving school with children who are well prepared for their next steps in life.
We are fixed upon progress for all. Pupils benefit from smaller classes in English and Maths, as well as additional support when they need an extra boost to accelerate their progress. We are blessed with excellent teachers who are happy and stay here. The teachers, the tutors and our expansive pastoral team work with each child to help find their 'missing piece' so that they can reach their God-given potential.
We are different, and what sets us apart is that we are the only Church of England Secondary School / Academy in East Sussex. Parents send their children here because we insist upon high standards and firm boundaries, all underpinned by our Christian foundation.
We are a college that teaches and explores the value of resilience. This resilience is in part why our students are more likely to stay on and succeed in further education than their peers nationally.
We are creative and maintain a broad and varied curriculum with Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Food Technology and Motor Vehicle all featuring in our curriculum as we recognise the value of developing the whole child experience. Beyond a rich mix of Sport, Drama, Dance and Music, we also offer chess, gaming, our Mandarin Academy, host the Pauline Quirk Academy and offer so much more...
We are St Catherine's and it is our mission that every child achieves his/her God-given potential. We aim for every student to rise to challenges, to enjoy learning and to feel a sense of belonging.
