Teacher of Mathematics

Salary: MPS/UPS incl Fringe

Full time, Permanent

Required for September 2022

Rickmansworth School is an 11-18 heavily oversubscribed co-educational partially (35%) selective academy with 1455 students on roll, increasing to around 1575 students over the next five years. Academic results are strong at KS4 and KS5 with the vast majority of students securing their first choice university destinations.

The School is in a very strong, stable financial position with over £6M recently spent on school expansion including a new Sixth-form centre, performing arts theatres and an Innovation & Design Centre. The School is also supported extremely well by a fantastic PTA and Foundation. Our outstanding staff well-being programme includes fortnightly well-being periods, access to our fitness suite and swimming pool, flu vaccinations and complimentary eye tests. The School’s admissions criteria gives preference to staff members’ children.

Our students enjoy learning and are an absolute pleasure to teach. We believe every child deserves the best and we aim to achieve excellence in all aspects of school life.

About the Department:

The Mathematics Department is first class with a history of achieving excellent results at GCSE and A-Level. At GCSE 42% achieved a gradem 7 or above whereas at A Level almost over a third achieving an A*/A, with over half achieving this measure in Further Mathematics.

There are nine members of the department with lots of experience and there is a great team atmosphere. We work very cohesively to support and develop each other’s practice and share expertise. All classrooms are fully equipped with interactive whiteboards and new textbooks across the Key Stages. The successful applicant will have their own classroom.

Mathematics and Further Mathematics are popular choices in the sixth form with approximately 120 students studying these subjects at A Level, so the ability to teach up to and including Key Stage 5 is highly desirable. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with ambition to join the team and contribute significantly to the department’s further successes.
