Maths Teacher for September start or Easter for the right candidate

Wye School is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. The shared Maths curriculum, with assessment support, is particularly strong and a great asset for our Maths teachers.

Wye School opened in September 2013 with a single intake of Year 7 students who delivered our excellent first GCSE results in August 18. We are a mixed comprehensive (all ability) school.  In December 2018, Ofsted praised our, ‘very vibrant and strong leadership... clear and aspirational vision,’ and, ‘high level of ambition for the students and the school.’  We are over-subscribed and are only interested in appointing teachers who aim to challenge and fully support outstanding progress for every student.

We are now looking to add to our close-knit team of dedicated and dynamic teaching staff.  We want to appoint a Teacher of Maths who is capable of teaching to GCSE, with A Level a welcome extra. Our existing Maths team are warm and supportive and work well as a co-ordinated team under the leadership of our very effective Head of Maths. They achieved fantastic first GCSE results last year, with well above national average Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8 scores, and have made a strong start with A Level Maths this year.

We welcome applications from candidates with varying degrees of experience, including NQTs. We have a strong NQT induction programme and offer extensive training opportunities to more experienced candidates through United Learning.

Applications will be considered on receipt. Suitable candidates will be interviewed on receipt of application and Wye School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

Wye School has a vision of excellence, a vision shared by all staff and pupils. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018, the school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives. The school currently caters for Years 7 -12 pupils and will complete sixth form growth in September 2019, growing to a roll of 600, housed in our new permanent building which has individually designed learning spaces offering an outstanding environment for staff and pupils. The first GCSE results in 2018 were above average for Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8.

Located within close proximity of the village centre, it is at the very heart of the local community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school. Wye is perfectly located to enjoy the Kent countryside, whilst still being within an hour of London thanks to HS1.
