TEACHER OF MATHEMATICS

Required for September 2021

This is a full time permanent post which requires the ability to teach to GCSE and ideally to A Level. We welcome applicants who are keen to work with high achieving and motivated students in a strong department. This position would suit either an NQT or a more experienced candidate.  Teachers with experience in the non-selective sector are also encouraged to apply.

The Maths Department in NKS is a high performing department where colleagues are extremely supportive of each other and work together effectively.  They see their role as equipping our students with excellent maths skills for the next phase of their lives whether that is A Level, university or work.  They seek to provide learning that enables students to become confident with their maths skills, whilst enjoying the subject.

The Maths Department aspires for all of our students to succeed.  Students achieve excellent exam results both at GCSE and at A level.  This is achieved by a team of committed maths specialist teachers.  All of the teachers in the department have the opportunity to teach across all Key Stages.

The department follows a two year KS3 and three year KS4 program.   At KS3, the department is introducing and refining a mastery curriculum.  GCSE Maths is taken at the end of Year 11 and more able students have the opportunity to do a Free Standing Maths Qualification to further develop their maths skills in preparation for A levels.  After GCSE, students have the opportunity to study Maths or Further Maths.  Maths is one of the most popular A level subjects in the school.

We will have a range of TLR opportunities becoming available next term, across a range of areas, and the successful candidate will be able to apply for these, along with internal candidates.

For an application form, visit our school website at www.nks.kent.sch.uk   Please send the  completed application form together with a letter of application, of no more than one side of A4 to Miss V Corker, PA to the Headteacher, email vcorker@nks.kent.sch.uk. The selection process will involve a teaching activity with students, an opportunity to meet with colleagues in the Department and a panel interview. Depending on Government guidance in relation to Covid-19 this may be carried out virtually.

NKS is committed to the Continuing Professional Development of all our staff.  We support our employees in career development and respect initiative and ambition.  As such we are committed to using Performance Management; formal and informal training; coaching and mentoring; and peer support to ensure the progression of our staff.  In return we expect commitment and a desire to improve and excel from our colleagues.
