Tes is seeking an inspirational Teacher of Mathematics to join a supportive and forward thinking team in a newly opened school that is focused on high quality autism specific education. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and landmark school that due to its early success is looking to expand its creative and dynamic teaching team. A breakthrough can seem like the smallest thing, but it can make the world of difference to someone on the autism spectrum. If you are in search of a school where you can really make a difference then this could be the role for you. 

The trust has partnered with the Local Authority to establish a special free school for autistic students. The pedagogy will be informed by researched and established methods of best practice in teaching autistic young people. The schools within the trust will work collaboratively to maximise the standards, curriculum, offer training and employment opportunities. This new role will therefore enable you to influence & contribute to the future of the trust.

You will:

  • Have a relevant degree 
  • Hold UK QTS
  • Ideally have experience of teaching in a Special School environment 
  • Have experience working with young people with ASD 
  • Ideally have experience of working with young people with complex needs, including OCD, PDA, ADHD 
  • Have the ability to work co-operatively with multi-disciplinary professionals, governors and other agencies
  • Have the ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment
  • Have the ability to plan and deliver a personalised curriculum that is relevant and motivating for children on the autism spectrum
