Job overview

The Governors are seeking a Mathematician capable of teaching confidently in all aspects of A-Level. The ability to teach Mechanics and/or Further Maths would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be capable of teaching across all key stages.

Through our exciting curriculum, we offer every pupil the opportunity to reach their true potential. Bellerive builds on past experiences to help all pupils and students to become successful learners and be responsible citizens. Students within KS4 follow a broad and balanced curriculum, which enables pathways appropriate to individuals and progression into our growing Sixth Form, university and the world of work. The Maths Department is committed to an ambitious and exciting curriculum from KS3 through to KS5.

We are rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted (October 2021) and Outstanding in the Section 48 inspection carried out by the Archdiocese of Liverpool. Since becoming an Academy in 2012 we have used the independence this has given us to further enhance the learning opportunities for our students.

Our school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting children’s welfare. The post is subject to all the relevant pre-employment checks set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education, including an enhanced DBS Certificate with a barred-list check and a medical screening questionnaire. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Please be aware that for shortlisted candidates, an online search will be carried out as part of due diligence. This may assist in identifying any issues or incidents which the Panel may wish to explore with the candidate at interview relating to publicly available information online.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 20th May 2024.

(Interviews are planned for Thursday 23rd May 2024.)

Further information, including job description, person specification and application forms can be obtained by visiting the Vacancies page on the school website: http://www.bellerivefcj.org/vacancies

Completed applications should be returned to brennanc@bellerivefcj.org and interviews will be held as soon as possible after the closing date.

Applicants who are not contacted may assume that they have not been successful but are thanked for their interest. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants who are not called for an interview.

Bellerive Catholic College is a popular and oversubscribed school. The latest OFSTED inspection, October 2021, graded Bellerive as Good. Located in a pleasant area of the city, adjacent to two parks, the college is a non selective school for girls, with boys admitted to the sixth form. The intake is from over 60 primary schools throughout the city and beyond.

The college has benefited from significant capital expenditure, including a new Sixth Form block and excellent new teaching facilities.  New science laboratories, ICT and Technology facilities opened in September 2017, together with a new Sports Hall.

The school performs above the national average in a number of measures.
