                     September 2019 start.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our strong Maths department for September.  The post is part-time and applications will be invited from NQTs and experienced teachers.  This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious person to develop their career in a dynamic, supportive, well equipped and academic environment with considerate students and very supportive parents.  We will be seeking:

• A creative teacher who can inspire students of high ability at GCSE and ideally at Advanced level.

• An aspirational person who has a desire to deliver high quality lessons

• High levels of emotional literacy in and out of the classroom.

• Knowledge of and the ability and desire to regularly display contemporary teaching and learning pedagogies.

• A person willing to commit to the ethos and vision of the school including participating in the co-curricular life of the school

Mathematics is an extremely popular subject at A level, and we would need applicants to be able to teach confidently to that level; a significant number of our students regularly apply to top universities to study mathematics.

WGSB is a member of the Endeavour MAT family of schools, which pride themselves on setting consistently high expectations, securing outstanding outcomes and delivering exceptional standards of teaching and learning for all.  Our students are encouraged to develop resilience and are supported to become innovative and thoughtful problem solvers via the Endeavour mindset programme.

Consistently oversubscribed, the school has grown over the past few years and now has over 900 students.  The School, which is an Academy, is a selective 11-18 boys’ Grammar School with 300 in the Sixth Form, and draws from the top 25% ability range in the area.

In return we offer exceptional support, training and an environment in which to develop your career to the next level.

We can offer you a dynamic and supportive environment in a thriving and forward-looking Trust.

Deadline for applications is:  Tuesday 23rd April 2019 Midday, with interviews to take place shortly after.  Application forms are available on our website under Vacancies and should be returned to recruitment@wgsb.org.uk.  Informal visits are welcome, please contact Mrs Owen, Headteacher’s PA – jowen@wgsb.org.uk

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.

About Wilmington Grammar School for Boys

Welcome to Wilmington Grammar School for Boys where we offer an  exceptional education for boys aged 11- 16 and an extensive post 16  programme which is co-educational for students in the sixth form.

Our aim is to produce well-rounded  individuals with a passion for learning and an enthusiasm for personal  development. Results are consistently of a high standard with the  majority of students going on to study in some of the most prestigious  universities, whilst a minority opt for the Higher Level Apprenticeship  programme as an alternative stepping stone to career success.

Our motto  is ‘forward thinking, traditional values’ and we strive to ensure that  the best of the past is harnessed, developed and adapted to meet the  changing requirements of the competitive, global world in which we now  operate.

At WGSB, we recognise that our students  need to be reflective and embrace challenges, to learn from mistakes and  develop the resilience to seek continual improvement. This growth  approach can lead to a happy and fulfilling school life and a  willingness to accept change. It nurtures learners who value critique,  support each other and feel empowered to drive their own learning.

The school has an Engineering specialism  and has developed some exciting links with business sponsors to ensure  the curriculum is current and relevant to the rapidly changing needs of  the workplace.  Visits from alumnae help to ensure our students benefit  from aspirational role models and can learn about the various routes and  pathways available to them.

Consistently oversubscribed, the school  has grown over the past few years and now has over 900 students.  Although the website and prospectus can give you a hint of our ethos,  there is no substitute for a personal visit. You are welcome to attend  one of our open events to discover the teaching quality, fun,  friendship, hard work and determination to succeed which characterises  WGSB.

Best wishes,

Mr Stuart Harrington
Head Teacher
