Values and vision

Gillingham School recognises that children have many abilities, talents and personalities and that they learn in many different ways. It aims to develop their abilities, raise their expectations and provide the support necessary for success, by offering a wide range of experiences to its students both in and out of the classroom.

The secondary school values the individual achievement of its students in a wide range of activities; performance in public examinations is one of these. Other successes, whether sporting, creative or personal, are equally valued.

The school’s motto is ‘docendo discimus’, which means ‘we learn through teaching’. The school recognises that learning is a shared process, and that the partnership between students, teachers and parents is vitally important in ensuring that all students aspire to achieve the best possible chances for their future.
