High Storrs is a high-performing 11-18 secondary school on the South Western outskirts of Sheffield that has benefitted from a £27m refurbishment of our Grade II listed building. Serving a multi-cultural learning community with high expectations and high aspirations, we are an over-subscribed school and part of the Minerva Learning Trust.

We are firmly committed to a holistic approach that combines academic delivery with strong pastoral support. We place a high value on teamwork, providing exceptional development opportunities in a supportive and forward thinking culture. We are currently rated Good with Outstanding Features by OFSTED (November 2013), with a total of 1654 students, 446 of which are in the sixth form. In the 2018 Maths GCSE results, we achieved 67% at grade 5+, 85% grade 4+ and 30% achieved grades 7-9.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, committed and reflective full-time teacher of Maths from September 2019. You will join an outstanding Maths team in this vibrant curriculum area, work very closely with an excellent department to achieve the best possible outcomes and ensure to give the best learning experience for our students. The successful candidate will be expected to teach KS3 through to GCSE and A Level Maths (essential). The ability to offer core ICT would be an advantage. This post is suitable for an NQT looking to begin their career in a well organised department, or for an established teacher who wishes to extend their experience in this excellent 11-18 specialist school. Applications from those seeking part-time hours will be considered, but this must be clear in the application.

Ofsted Inspectors commented: ‘Well done. It has been a joy to be here, teachers are such positive role models’

Further details can be found in the job information pack on our website (www.highstorrs.co.uk) or alternatively email contact Alison Foulkes, PA to the Headteacher afoulkes4@highstorrs.sheffield.sch.uk.

We are able to offer combined pre-application visits (for all posts) on Tuesday 26 March 2019 and Monday 15 April 2019 from 3.15pm until 4.30pm. We appreciate that not everyone can make a tour of school prior to application. Please note that as part of our interview process we include a tour of school for all posts. If you would like to join the combined tour, please contact Alison Foulkes (PA to the Headteacher) afoulkes4@highstorrs.sheffield.sch.uk or telephone 01142670000 to arrange this.

To apply, download an application form our website (www.highstorrs.co.uk) and send all electronic applications addressed to The Headteacher to afoulkes4@highstorrs.sheffield.sch.uk. Please provide telephone numbers and email addresses for yourself and referees.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share their commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Head Teacher – Claire Tasker

At High Storrs, we believe in nurturing each student's potential, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. With a rich history dating back over 100 years, our school has consistently been at the forefront of educational excellence, providing a dynamic environment where students thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Our curriculum is innovative with a wider range of GCSE and A level subjects on offer than most. Our core subjects are very strong with many students going on to study STEM subjects at A Level. Equally, we are renowned for our creativity and strong Arts curriculum with students of all ages excelling in Dance Drama, Music, Art, and Film Studies. We are also one of a small number of state schools nationally that teach Classics and Latin.

Values and vision

Our school prides itself on its strong academic record, with a high percentage of students consistently achieving top grades in their GCSE and A-level examinations. Additionally, our extensive extracurricular program, which includes over 50 clubs and activities, allows students to develop skills outside of the classroom and pursue their passions in sport, literature, history, ecology, the arts, STEM and much more.

High Storrs School is not just about academic achievement; it's about holistic development. Our pastoral care system ensures that students feel supported and valued, promoting their social, emotional, and personal growth alongside their academic success. At KS3 and 4 we have a strong House system and vertical tutor groups that support our students to ‘learn, succeed and thrive’. We are an inclusive, happy and successful community.
