Job overview

An enthusiastic and dedicated Mathematician with the ability to teach secondary Mathematics is required from September 2018 to join a large and highly successful department. Over 1050 students benefit from incredibly dedicated staff members, fantastic modern facilities and an ethos for excellence and community that drives us all to success.

Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy strives to deliver a world class education and develop all of its students into resilient and successful citizens. The Academy is proud of its large and vibrant Maths Department. With a staff of 12 teachers who are all passionate about their subject we can help ensure every individual achieves to the best of their ability. Teachers in the maths department are a strong, vibrant team, bound by a commitment to collaborative working, sharing each other’s successes and contributing to an environment that enables students and staff alike to express themselves and flourish.

During the Academy’s recent Ofsted inspection, INSPECTORS were impressed by “an enthusiastic teaching team having developed a highly effective approach to teaching and learning.” The maths department holds these values at its core and would welcome new members with a passion to develop new generations of burgeoning mathematicians. OSSMA was very proud to achieve a GCSE pass rate of 71% and a ‘good pass’ rate of 54% which are each ahead of the national average and place us second for schools in Stoke on Trent in terms of Mathematics outcomes.

The post would suit a well-qualified graduate, a newly qualified teacher or an Associate Teacher currently in training. OSSMA prides itself on the level of support and development given to all staff with an exemplary track record of developing NQTs whom benefit from a bespoke programme of induction leading to Qualified Teacher Status. The academy works in conjunction with the Ormiston and Keele SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) which we are proud to have been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Mathematics.  If you feel you have a passion for teaching Mathematics and possess a creative approach to teaching, then  we would love to hear from you. Our school is a dynamic learning environment, where all students are encouraged to aspire towards their very best.
