The successful applicant will be an excellent and innovative practitioner, with the ability to inspire and enthuse students; and a belief that every child really does matter. With our new sixth form provision now open you will also have the opportunity to teach up to A Level.

Monkwearmouth Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in Tyne and Wear serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Seaburn Dene, Sunderland has approximately 823 students on record.
Monkwearmouth Academy was established in 1962 and converted to academy status in 2013. The secondary school is part of the Wearmouth Learning Trust, which includes Redby Academy, who is the sponsored academy.

Monkwearmouth Academy’s vision is to provide personalised teaching to each student in order for them to reach their full potential and fulfil their goals and ambitions during their time at secondary school. A partnership with parents and the wider community is important for the school in order to ensure students are guided and supported at all times. The Sunderland based secondary school encourages students to make a positive impact on society and offers a wide range of enrichment activities to foster skills in leadership and team work. The school wishes to nurture students as tolerant, active, respectful and positive members of the community. The school wants all students to feel valued and works to build their self-esteem and self-worth, with the hope that they leave the school as confident young adults, ready for the next stage of their learning.
