Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic teachers who are committed to excellence and ready to work in a dynamic part of Scotland to deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute, within collegiate ethos, to the professional life of the school in relation to pupils, staff and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the Local Negotiating Committee for Teachers and the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers.

Fixed term for a period not exceeding 06/07/2018.

Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where applicable, this post also requires an Overseas Criminal Record Check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Located in the town of Banff, Aberdeenshire, Banff Academy is a co-educational six-year secondary school. Serving a number of small towns in the surrounding area, the school has around 900 pupils making it average-sized compared to other secondary schools of its type. The school moved onto its current site in 1970, but has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation over the years, including a number of recent renovations to the school building, with more work planned on the school’s common areas. As a result of this, the school boasts of a wide range of modern teaching and recreational facilities.

“The school has taken some positive steps to improve the arrangements for meeting young people’s needs. All staff across the school and enhanced provision are now able to access up-to-date information on young people’s additional support needs. This includes helpful information for staff on ways to meet young people’s needs. The school has introduced welfare meetings which enable staff to work together more effectively in supporting young people.”
