Job overview

Teacher of Music TMS/UPS, Teacher or Faculty Lead TLR1a or an Extended Leadership Team L6 - 10 senior role available.

We require an ambitious and dynamic person to develop the place of Music at Coundon Court. You will have the potential to manage high expectation through robust challenge and engaging teaching. The post is available with a range of possible additional responsibility and I would welcome applications from individuals with a range of experience. Ultimately, I am seeking a talented musician with the ability to engage and motivate students to perform at all levels of ability both within and beyond the formal classroom. If appointed as faculty lead you would be responsible for the whole performing arts team and its facilities. For the leadership post, you would also want to accept some negotiated whole school responsibility.

Music has a secure place within our curriculum plan and every student is entitled to an hour a week in Years seven and eight. Music is then a GCSE option at the start of Year nine when students embark on a three year programme of study. Drama is also delivered in a similar manner. The two subject work closely together to develop performance and resilience in excellent, purpose built facilities. A Level Music and Drama are expected to be delivered in 2019 as the two subjects fully establish themselves within the KS4 options suite.

The Performing Arts Centre is a purpose built facility consisting of large teaching spaces, performance space, practice rooms and an iMAC suite.

An extensive peripatetic tuition program exists and student participation is rapidly increasing. Several showcase events are planned for annually. A commitment to enrichment activity in and around the school day is vital.

A successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and develop from strong foundations and work alongside a strong and committed team of talented practitioners.

We offer a great opportunity for you to develop your career in a dynamic and forward thinking school where parent support is excellent and levels of attainment are set to beat all external targets. As a large school with over 120 teachers you will be exceptionally well supported as we drive to secure consistently outstanding levels of achievement. Successful candidates should look forward to a challenging but productive context within which to work where there is every opportunity to flourish and to lay excellent foundations for career progression. Our pay policy allows for reward where staff generate outstanding outcomes.

Please log onto our website www.coundoncourt.org or come and visit our school to see for yourself the potential that exists. Mr. Anthony Dix, Deputy Headteacher and Performing Arts line manager will be available for candidates to discuss posts on an informal basis over the telephone.
