At GCSE, students study for Religious Studies and Thinking Skills with 3 hours of lessons a week. GCSE students follow the new AQA specification. At KS5, Religious Studies is offered at A Level. The Department has a tradition of high academic success.
The most recent OFSTED inspection graded the school as “Outstanding” in all areas. The school has a national reputation for excellence and achievement and was ranked 9th in the country for student progress in 2017, having attained a Progress 8 score of +1.21. Previously, the school was recognised as being in the top 2% of schools nationally and in March 2015 we won the SSAT Educational Outcome Award for exceptional progress.
As part of the School Direct Teacher Training programme, Upton Court Grammar School is also the lead school for Teach Slough. Working alongside Reading University and the Institute of Education, teacher training is offered in the Slough area. As a Teaching School since September 2013 we provide a first class CPD programme which supports the professional development of teachers at all stages in their careers including teachers new to the profession and leadership development.
