Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Teacher of PE & Games (Netball specialism) for a September 2022 start.

Essential to this position is a Netball specialism and either a BA QTS or a BSc Sport Science and PGCE qualification. Desirable for this position is a holder of the UKCC Level 2 in Coaching Netball qualification as well as a qualification in First Aid.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the planning, teaching and assessment within the PE & Games department. You should be able to inspire and motivate students through a diverse range of learning styles. You should be able to work on ad-hoc Saturdays and Sundays for sporting fixtures, as well as for periods during school holidays for match tours or other school trips. Involvement with these latter responsibilities will particularly suit a teacher with strong organisational and communication skills. We are looking for a teacher who consistently models excellent practice and can make a significant contribution to this strong and successful department.

The role of Head of Netball is currently being advertised, and the successful external candidate will be encouraged to apply for this separately, should the timings make this possible.

Founded in 1993, the Harrodian School is co-educational and set in SW London on 25 acres of grounds with excellent sports facilities, including tennis and netball courts, a swimming pool, extensive playing fields, and astroturf. Harrodian offers teachers and students alike a friendly, welcoming and exceptional school environment where classes are small and standards and expectations are high. We place a strong emphasis on the ability to convey enthusiasm and enjoyment of the subject to students across the ability range. A sense of fun, a readiness to respond to students’ individual needs and an open approach to teaching are qualities that we value highly.

A teacher’s willingness to assist with a large range of extra-curricular activities is important in this dynamic and vibrant school. Teaching staff are expected to offer support to the learning, pastoral and co-curricular needs of our pupils to ensure the all-round quality of education offered at Harrodian.

To apply, please email a covering letter in support of your application, addressed to Ms Chris McCosh – Head of HR, alongside a completed application form and full CV to recruitment@harrodian.com

Closing date: Noon on Monday, 27 June 2022.

Interview date: From w/c 20 June 2022 for early applicants. As part of the interview process, all candidates will be required to teach an academic lesson. Preparation work in advance of the class lesson will be required and details will be provided prior to interview.

Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK. Harrodian is unable to act as a sponsor for an employment visa.
