Job overview

King Edward VI School Lichfield is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of PE to join a dynamic, high-performing department. The post is part-time (0.6 FTE) but additional time (up to full-time) could be made available for a less experienced candidate accessing induction as a Newly Qualified Teacher under the Early Career Framework.

The benefits of Physical Education and School Sport are well recognised at King Edward VI School. PE is popular and successful from Key Stage 3 through to our thriving, successful Sixth Form. All Key Stage 3 and 4 students access two hours of core PE each week, with an extensive offer for extra-curricular sport, which many of our students regularly attend in addition to their lessons. The extra-curricular offer extends to include students in Sixth Form, with the opportunity to lead teams in a range of sports from Y7–13. In Key Stages 4 and 5, students can opt to take examination subjects in PE including GCSE PE, A-Level PE and BTEC Sport. These subject options have a good uptake and have consistently achieved good results.

We are looking for a creative and adaptable teacher with a commitment to extra-curricular activities. The appointed teacher will ideally be able to teach both BTEC Sport (Key Stage 5) and GCSE PE. A specialism in football and/or rugby would be particularly useful; however, other sporting expertise would be considered. Excellent communication skills, with an ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents, are essential.
